     During the last several years, the ESPN campus in Bristol has grown and they’ve added several new buildings. In doing so, ESPN is now not only a great corporate leader and job creator in the state but now is also a leader in environmental stewardship when it comes to green buildings and sustainability.  
    This past Tuesday, CTGBC attended the unveiling of the LEED® Gold plaque ceremony at ESPN’s Child Care Center. LEED or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design is a criteria that was established by the U.S. Green Building Council and is the industry standard when it comes to certify green buildings. The LEED certification looks at energy, water use, locally sourced materials, indoor air quality and green innovation.

    Homes from Brooklyn, South Glastonbury and Watertown recognized, take home cash prizes in nationally recognized program.

    – Energize Connecticut with its utility partners, Eversource and the United Illuminating Company, have named three winners of the fifth annual Connecticut Zero Energy Challenge (ZEC), a statewide design/build competition for single and multi-family homes. This year’s competition featured 11 homes from across the state built between June 1, 2013 and December 31, 2014.

    According to Financialmines.com, the U.S. Green Building Council has awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification to Diageo for its Norwalk office.
    Diageo, headquartered in London, sells spirits, beer and wine, with brands including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff and Bailey’s has three other buildings in North America that have achieved the LEED certification.

Joining Pat will be Brian Dwyer, General Manager Government Solutions, Carrier Corporation, as Vice Chair; Robert O'Meara, Project Manager, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company as Board Secretary and Aris Stalis, Principal, Aris Land Studio continues as Treasurer.
